What is Homeopathy?
Homeopathy is a system of health care that concentrates on the well being of the whole person, not the specific disease. Homeopathic medicines are called remedies and are FDA approved. Samuel Hahnemann, known as the Father of Homeopathy, developed this therapeutic system of medicine nearly 200 years ago in Germany. Homeopathy is based upon the "Law of Similars," meaning "Like cures Like." It is a method for treating disease based on the administration of minute doses of a drug that in massive amounts produces symptoms in healthy individuals similar to those of the disease itself. For example, if someone took a large quantity of Ipecac, it would produce vomiting, but taken in a minute dose, it cures vomiting. Some conditions that conventional medicine has no effective treatment for respond well to homeopathy. Homeopathy uses highly diluted substances to cure illnesses by stimulating our own immune system to fight against diseases instead of suppressing the illness. Homeopathy is prescribed according to the person's symptoms and has prompt, gentle and lasting improvements. The most important part of homeopathic treatment lies in the lengthy interview the homeopath conducts with the patient in order to determine all the symptoms the patient is experiencing. The homeopath then decides which medicine or remedy to prescribe based on the closest match between the patient's symptoms and the known symptoms elicited by the remedy in a healthy body. Homeopathic remedies and dilutions act in the same way as the body's reactions to heal itself. Some practitioners use only one remedy, which is called “classical” homeopathy. New research shows combination remedies are very powerful and effective. Homeopathic Remedies and DilutionsSingle and combination remedies: Dilutions: |
